3 Bookstores with Summer Reading Programs

Earn or win free books with these summer reading opportunities at your neighborhood bookstore!

Barnes and Noble




Kids can earn a free book with the Barnes and Noble Imagination's Destination Summer Reading Program.
Here's how:

1) Read any 8 books and record them in the Reading Journal (download here)

2) Bring the completed Reading Journal to your local Barnes and Noble store.

3) Choose a FREE BOOK from our selection on the Reading Journal list at the store... Enjoy reading!

Half-Price Books




Kids 14-and-under can earn Bookworm Bucks at Half-Price Book's Feed Your Brain Summer Reading Program.

Here's how:

1) Children Read for at least 15 minutes each day for a month. (Grown-ups may read aloud to kids who are still learning.)

2) Participants then add up minutes and have a parent or guardian initial each week.

3) Once participants have read 300 minutes, they can turn in a completed reading log to earn $5 HPB Bookworm Bucks reading reward for the month.

Half-Price Books will award one top reader per age group each month with a TOP READER prize - a $20 HPB Gift Card!

Brazos Bookstore




Attend the Brazos Bookstore's Summer Reading Kickoff Party on March 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. to find out more about summer programming and reading list. Kids will also have an opportunity to make and decorate their own summer reading tracker to keep at the store.
Bring the whole family to snack on treats from Dixie’s Dessert Delivery and other refreshments.
Other activities include:
  • A raffle, where kids can get their hands on books before they come out, and also win tickets to Main Street Theater’s summer kids show
  • A bookmark making station
  • The opportunity for kids to illustrate and write their own short book
  • A sneak peak at Where’s Waldo?, starting in July
